residential house sz in gotha

built 2010

Former industrial wasteland was developed into a building area for residential buildings as part of Gotha’s urban development. The building shows vividly how in cooperation with the town and the development agencies an “ageing” development plan could be adapted, so that there was now an opportunity to break up the monotony of the existing buildings and to upgrade the area with more strongly individualised dwellings.

The house accordingly uncompromisingly implements the space and function programme aspired to by the owner. This is manifested in the building envelope through cubic structural forms with protruding and receding façade areas deriving from the interior room structure.

The kitchen, living and dining areas are on the ground floor. Large glazings with sliding door connect the ground floor to the terrace and the garden at ground level. The bedrooms are located on the upper floor. Through the property’s hillside situation, the building has a cellar under part of it. The fully lit basement houses guest- and workrooms.
