built 2006

The original half-timbered building was almost completely demolished and, in consideration of the fact that the site is within a listed building ensemble, replaced by a new building in the same cubage. The historically valuable 15th/16th century basement vault was preserved and functionally integrated into the new residence.

In order not to endanger the static equilibrium of the vault, the new construction was erected on an elaborate bridging construction.
To realise the desired amount of living space, the main building structure was extended on the garden side with an “annex”. In order to leave the historical building structure recognisable, the annex distances itself markedly in colour and style from the front building. The challenge of the design lay in linking the garden – a steep north-facing slope – to the house.

The living room was deliberately located in the upper floor; a footbridge and a balcony connect this room with the upper part of the garden.

A terrace connects at ground level to the dining room on the ground floor. This arrangement of the property allowed the creation in interesting fashion of areas of quite different qualities to use quite individually ad libitum.
