catholic nursing home in erfurtrenovation 2003
The main focus for the catholic care home built in the 70s was redesigning the existing four-bed rooms into one- and two-bed rooms with integrated sanitary module. The kitchen was also radically redesigned and the bathrooms adapted to meet current standards. Because of an inadequate supply of temporary accommodation, renovation of the building had to take place in an occupied state in a total of four construction stages.
At every point the safety of the occupants and comprehensive care and logistics had to be ensured. Through an optimal ratio of preserved structural fabric and implemented structural modifications it was possible to realise a high degree of living comfort while remaining within the set budget and further extend the spaciousness of the corridors and communication areas.
